Caroline Wozniacki lost to Serena Williams in the semifinals of the 2011 US Open. So another major passes without Wozniacki winning her first. She's still the No. 1-ranked player in the WTA singles rankings, though.

Did you watch the match on CBS? The announcers, primarily John McEnroe, spoke about the Williams-Wozniacki matchup not on as if the outcome was a foregone conclusion, but as if Wozniacki had no chance whatsoever. I believe McEnroe said something along the lines of "if Wozniacki does (all the things she has to do), maybe she can extend the match a little bit."

As it turns out, Wozniacki did get steamrolled. Still, it was odd to hear the No. 1-ranked player in the world talked about in that manner. Clearly, Caroline is a very, very good player, but just as clearly, she still has plenty of improving to do.

Entering the 2011 USO, Watson had won three singles titles on the ITF circuit. She was ranked No. 104 in the world.

Against Sharapova, Watson won the first set 6-3 before losing the next two 5-7, 3-6.

Bojana Jovanovski is from Serbia and she finished the 2010 WTA season as the youngest player in the Top 100 (age 18 at that time). Bojana is in the news lately for a geographical mixup - although a mixup that was apparently her travel agent's fault and not her own fault. Who would ever have guessed that Petra Kvitova would have a Grand Slam singles title before Carolina Wozniacki. Yet that's the situation today, now that Kvitova is a Wimbledon champ. Kvitova defeated Maria Sharapova in straight sets in the 2011 Wimbledon finals.

Kvitova had never advanced beyond the quarterfinals in any previous Grand Slam. She had only four WTA singles titles in her career entering Wimbledon, to which she brought a No. 7 world ranking.

Lisicki, who got into the major as a qualifier, held a match point at 5-2 in the second against 3rd-seeded Vera Zvonareva. But she wound up losing 5-7 in the third, the match lasting 2 1/2 hours, and Lisicki suffering terrible cramps, dizziness and blurred vision in the second half of that set. When the match ended, she was taken off the court on a stretcher. She appears to fine now, however, after treatment at a hospital.

The headline sounds weird, but former tennis vixen Anna Kournikova really is joining the cast of NBC hit reality series Biggest Loser when that show returns next season. Anna is replacing hard-charging (OK, mean) trainer Jillian Michaels. No word on what exactly Kournikova's role will be, although generally we can assume she'll be whipping folks into shape. But probably in a much nicer fashion than Michaels did.

The 268th-ranked Diyas, who celebrated her 17th birthday on Monday, led 5-0 in the first set when Jankovic called for a doctor and had her blood pressure checked. Jankovic said she had a hard time breathing, and had been ill since coming from a tournament in China.

Andy Murray Chose Video Games Over Kim Sears

This may come as a suprise to some of you, but men can be very, very stupid. Take Brit tennis stud Andy Murray, for example. Murray's girlfriend is the beautiful woman pictured above, Kim Sears.

Or rather, was Kim Sears. Because Andy, you see, apparently couldn't think of anything he'd like to be doing with Kim. Instead, according to the Telegraph of London, Murray likes to play video games for up to seven hours a day.

However, sources close to Sears said one of the causes was the world number four's long hours playing video tennis and PlayStation 3 games such as the best selling Call of Duty sequel.

Brad Gilbert, Murray's former coach, has said in the past that Murray spends "seven hours a day" playing video games.

The source told The Sun: "He would spend all his time glued to them. In the end she just got fed up with it. She wanted more out of the relationship."

Great gesture, right? Not to the WTA: The Tennis Integrity Unit (the folks who investigate match fixing, among other things) are all over it because of something Wozniacki's father was overheard saying during the match.
